Aims of the course To prepare a master student for doctoral studies and for active research work in Particle Physics.
Learning outcomes Students should gain the contemporary knowledge in Particle Physics at least at the level that would enable them to commence the active research in this field.
Contents of the course
Lectures The course is composed of lectures on the base of Theoretical and Experimental High Energy Physics which comprises: Particles Phenomenology and Fundamental Interactions in nature, Interactions of charged particles and electromagnetic radiation with matter at high energies, the most importand elements of the Standard model, basis elements of (Super Symmetry) models pretending to extend the Standard modeld (physics beyond the Standard model), Complex detectors in Experimental Particle Physics, Phenomena and actual research programmes in High Energy Physics (examples: studies of specific Higgs decay channels, search for signatures of supersymmetric particles, studies of phenomena in Heavy Ion interactions at relativistic energies,...).
Practical lectures: the use of computer programmes for data analyses and studies of events obtained in particle physics experiments
