Born in 1932 in Vojvodina (a part of Serbia), and graduated as a physicist in 1957 at the University of Belgrade. He enjoyed a grant from the Institute for nuclear studies "Vincha" in Belgrade, which enabled him to attend postgraduate studies in Birmingham, England, from 1960 till 1963. There, at the renowned Department of Mathematical Physics headed by the late Sir Rudolf E. Peierls, he acquired his Ph. D. in 1964 with a thesis under the title "Nuclear Pairing Forces from Hard- Core Interaction".

Member of the theoretical research team at the Institute for nuclear studies "Vincha" from 1956 till 1976, when he joined the staff of the Faculty of Physics at Belgrade University. He wrote a two-volume text book on quantum mechanics, and he lectured the subject from 1975 till 1996. Retired in 1997.
